MiaoMiao City
Energy
Where does MiaoMiao City’s energy come from?

Energy in Everyday Life
As evening falls, the building’s smart system quietly turns on the lights.
For the cats inside, it is simply part of everyday life.
But where does the power behind this small moment come from?
Beyond the Residential Area
The power behind the lights is not generated in the residential area.
Follow it back to its source, and it leads to the coast.

Why Fusion

Fusion power plants are built along the coast, where deuterium can be obtained from seawater.
As controlled fusion technology matured, MiaoMiao City adopted it as its main source of energy. Steady, high-density fusion power supplies the residential, agricultural, manufacturing, and other areas.
The residential area is MiaoMiao City in the narrower sense—the “MiaoMiao City” cats usually mean in everyday conversation. Together with the agricultural, manufacturing, energy, and natural areas, it forms MiaoMiao City in the broader sense, affectionately known as Greater MiaoMiao City.
A Grid That Keeps Running

Each Greater MiaoMiao City is supplied by at least two fusion power plants.
Two independent six-phase power grids carry electricity to the residential, agricultural, manufacturing, and other areas. If one plant, grid, or transmission route is under maintenance, power can continue through another path.
Artificial intelligence quietly coordinates generation, storage, and demand to keep Greater MiaoMiao City running.
Buildings, rail transit infrastructure, and other fixed facilities connect directly to the power grids. Mobile equipment uses standardized battery modules that can be exchanged, repaired, recharged, and used again.
But not everything needs electricity. Walking remains ordinary, and bicycles remain unpowered.
Energy Without Sacrifice

This is how MiaoMiao City keeps the lights on.
No dams cut across its rivers, so fish can continue to swim freely. No giant turbine blades disturb or harm the birds, so they can follow the routes they know. And no vast fields of dark solar panels cover the open land, leaving it to the animals that live there.
Small-scale rooftop solar makes full use of existing space to provide supplementary power for MiaoMiao City.
